1. Who we are
Cascadia Atelier is the trade name of Cascadia Atelier Works Inc., a British Columbia corporation (BC1597782), with its registered office in Colwood, British Columbia, Canada. This Privacy Policy describes how the studio collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit cascadiaatelier.com (the “Site”) or write to us using an address published on it.
2. What information we collect
We collect only the information necessary to respond to you and keep the Site running:
- Email inquiries. The Site has no contact form. Every contact route on the Site is an email link that opens a new message in your own email program and addresses it to us. When you send that message, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and whatever name or other details you choose to include in it.
- Traffic measurement. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on the Site. We turned it on deliberately and we read the results. It works by loading a small measurement script into your browser when a page loads; the script reports how that page performed and which page it was. What reaches us is a dashboard of totals and breakdowns: pages viewed, visit counts, the site a visitor arrived from, browser, operating system, device type, page-load timings, and the country a visit came from. Web Analytics does not show us your name, your email address, or your IP address. It reports aggregates rather than individuals, and it gives us no way to single out one visitor, to follow that visitor from visit to visit, or to follow them to any other website.
- Cookies and other browser storage. We set no cookies of our own on the Site, and we run no advertising, cross-site, or profiling tracker. Cloudflare documents the measurement script described above as one that stores and reads nothing on your device: no cookies, no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB. Cloudflare also documents that the script draws its numbers from timing information your browser already holds, and that the IP address the request arrives with is discarded rather than stored, with only a country-level location derived from it. Cloudflare operates that script and we do not, so we describe its behaviour as Cloudflare describes it rather than warranting it ourselves. - Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records IP addresses and request metadata for the purposes of security, abuse prevention, and service reliability. These logs are managed by Cloudflare under their privacy practices.
We do not ask for or collect financial information, government identifiers, precise location data, or special-category personal information. IP addresses reaching the service providers named in Section 4 can indicate approximate location. Cloudflare uses that signal to produce the country figure described above; beyond that country figure we do not use IP addresses to locate visitors, we do not receive city, street address, or device location, and we do not build location profiles.
3. How we use it
We use the information in your email inquiry solely to respond to it and to reasonably follow up. We will not add you to a marketing list, newsletter, or any other ongoing communication without your explicit opt-in consent at a later step.
We review the traffic measurement described in Section 2 to understand which pages are useful and to improve the Site.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share email inquiries with third parties for marketing purposes.
We rely on the following service providers to operate the Site:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, content delivery, security, and the Cloudflare Web Analytics traffic measurement described in Section 2. Cloudflare’s privacy practices are available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
- Google LLC — Google Workspace. Email hosting for our contact address. Inquiries you send to us are received and held in a Google Workspace mailbox on the catelier.studio domain.
- Google LLC — Google Fonts. Every page of the Site, including this one, loads two typefaces from Google’s font service. Your browser requests those files directly from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and standard request metadata each time a page loads. We do not receive that information and make no use of it. Google’s privacy practices are available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Processing outside Canada. The service providers named above are based in the United States, and information handled through the Site — including email inquiries, server logs, and the request metadata described above — is processed and stored outside Canada. While it is held outside Canada, that information is subject to the laws of the jurisdiction it is held in, and may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement agencies, and government authorities of that jurisdiction under those laws.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cascadia Atelier Works Inc., our visitors, or others.
5. How we store it
Email inquiries are received and held in a Google Workspace mailbox. Google states that it encrypts customer data at rest, and email reaching us is encrypted in transit (TLS) where the sending mail server supports it. Email is not secure end to end, and we cannot guarantee the security of a message before it reaches us, so please do not send sensitive personal information by email. Site hosting, content delivery, and the traffic measurement described in Section 2 run on Cloudflare’s infrastructure, and server logs are held by Cloudflare under their own practices.
Inquiries are retained only as long as needed to respond to and reasonably follow up on them, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis.
6. Your rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct any inaccuracies in that information;
- Withdraw consent to our continued use of your information;
- Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 8 below. We will respond within thirty (30) days of receiving your request, or such longer period as permitted by applicable law, in which case we will notify you of the extension.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request or your personal information, you may bring a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, where British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act applies, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
7. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy
